A little piece IVECO history gaines some more understanding
IVECO was created when the truck divisions of Magirus-Deutz and FIAT (including subsidiaries Unic, OM and the commercial vehicle divisions of Lancia and Alfa Romeo) merged on 1 January 1975. Later, various other brands were acquired, Pegaso, Astra, Seddon-Atkinson, Karosa, Heuliez, Irisbus, the British truck division of Ford and the Australian truck division of International also became part of the group. Today it is a major global player in the world of commercial vehicles with production facilities in Europe, China, Russia, Australia and Latin America. IVECO is an innovative producer in the field of engine technology and in the field of vehicles. IVECO was the first manufacturer to introduce the turbo on all diesel versions, discoverer of the common rail technique and first to offer Euro V - EEV vehicles.
Iveco has many sporting successes: Janus van Kasteren, Gerard de Rooy and Martin Macik all managed to win the Dakar Rally with an Iveco, De Rooy and Macik even twice, both with a truck developed and built by themselves! At the 2025 Dakar, the entire top 8 drove an Iveco 4x4 torpedo.
